What is the Washtenaw Great Start Collaborative?
Washtenaw Success by 6 is part of a statewide effort to create a single system supporting young children and their parents – this part of our work is called the Washtenaw Great Start Collaborative .
The Great Start Collaborative greatly strengthens the work of Washtenaw Success by 6 in our county. The Collaborative is currently working to prepare a report on the Status of Young Children in Washtenaw County. Community Forums will then be held throughout the county to assess what the community believes to be the most pressing issues facing young children and their families. Using this information, Washtenaw Success by 6 and the Great Start Collaborative will partner with the Washtenaw Birth to Six Interagency Coordinating Council to develop an Early Childhood Action Agenda that will lay out what we need going forward to ensure that every child enters kindergarten healthy and eager to learn."
Washtenaw Great Start Collaborative Mission: That every child in Washtenaw County enters school ready to succeed Washtenaw Great Start Collaborative
Vision: To ensure that every Washtenaw County family has access to a comprehensive and collaborative system of community-based early childhood programs, services and supports.
